Diving into Endless Prose: A Text Adventure Adventure

Welcome to Endless Prose!

I'm Matt Timmermans, a solo developer and I'm creating a new text adventure game Endless Prose. I'm no stranger to text adventures, I have two others on here, Epic Prose and Epic Prose SE, and I made two other ones when I was learning as a kid.

Endless Prose is  inspired by my passion for procedural generation and text adventures. The goal of this game is to create a randomly procedurally generated world, characters and even the story, to make an endless game. Text adventures can be a really imaginative form of expression, you can create impossible or impractical scenes, such as non-Euclidian geometry or mazes that defy physical laws.  It gives the freedom to create complex game mechanics without the complexity of graphics, so it's a great way to test out and prototype ideas.

This will be my most ambitious text adventure yet. I want to try to create a complex society where there will be consequences for actions as well as political interactions, I want there to be many complex interactions and emergent storytelling. I am also using this project as an opportunity to test working with OpenAI's language model, ChatGPT, to speed up my development.

This devlog will be a place where I will share my thoughts, progress, and challenges with the community. I hope that you will join me on this journey and share your thoughts and feedback with me.
